Elecia James May is a bilingual professional woman born in the United States to Jamaican parents. Although she was born here, her parents made sure she was raised with the knowledge of her Caribbean culture and made sure she spent quality time in Jamaica during her childhood. Her visits to her other homeland and other islands continued as an adult. she refers to herself as a "Jamerican" proud of both cultures. Many people characterize her as more Caribbean than American.
As a little girl locked in closets at times by someone who was given the task to watch over me. It was a challenge for many years, but she managed to navigate through that and became a teacher, principal, Julliard-trained musician, Chief of Staff of The National Council of Women, author, advocate, and motivational speaker.
God used her pain and turned it into her purpose which is to educate, empower and provide her brilliant and beautiful disadvantaged and minority girls and other young women globally with tools to achieve their dreams.
She is currently known as "The Girl Ambassador "with over twenty-five years of experience in education, girls mentoring programs, entertainment, consulting, public speaking, and advocacy. Lastly, Elecia is armed with a master's in education from Bowie State University and a master's in educational administration from Trinity University. Her strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills have contributed to her success in every position I've held.
She believes her skills, education, and experience make her an ideal candidate to successfully serve as a judge for the Miss Caribbean US or Teen US family. She has served as a judge for The Ms. Maryland Entrepreneur Pageant. She was selected to be The Director for Miss Atlanta Fashion Week Pageant and served on The Senior Events Team for Miss Black USA.
